Snowbase 2016

This past weekend, Troop 9460 partnered with Troop 9464, also based out of New Richmond, WI., for some High Adventure Winter Camping (more commonly known as Snowbase) up in the Wilderness of Tomahawk Scout Reservation!  The Boys had a tremendous amount of fun and learned a lot about Winter Camping Survival.

Family Feast and Court of Honor

A big THANK YOU to all the parents that came out to our Troop’s Family Feast/Court of Honor over Halloween weekend this past Saturday at Fred C Andersen Scout Camp within Swanson Lodge.  It was a great time had by all.

2013 Family Feast

Greetings Scouts and Families,

We have numerous changes this year for Family Feast unlike the previous years.  Due to Swanson Lodge became unavailable due to mold related concerns we have moved the Camping portion to Kiwanis Scout Camp north of Stillwater, MN and Family Feast to Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Houlton, WI.  Please ensure you read internal Troop Communication Emails for all the details.

Yours in Scouting,

Troop Leadership

Troop participation in Eagle River District’s Conservation Day canceled.

Due to lack of participation by the Troop for Eagle River District’s Conservation Day, Scoutmaster Jeff has canceled this Troop Activity.  Questions?  Email Scoutmaster Jeff.

Sturgeon Lake Camp Out, August 10th-11th.

From Scoutmaster Jeff;

We have no Troop Meeting before our next outing, which is Sturgeon Lake Camp Out, on August 10th-11th. Cost is $12.50 and please email Scoutmaster Jeff no later than July 31st if your Scout plans on going and how payment will be made. Adults going to this outing will need a MN fishing license if they plan on fishing.

Troop heads to Summer Camp

The Boys and Adult Leaders have left for Tesomas Scout Camp as of yesterday, Sunday, June 11th.  They will have the absolute time of their lives for a full week.  They will have many stories to share with their Friends, fellow Scouts and Families.

Tesomas Scout Camp – June 16-22nd

With Scoutmaster Jeff out until the day of leaving for Tesomas Scout Camp I thought I would send this message out.

I was just recently visiting Tesomas Scout Camp on Sunday, June 9th and i wanted to let people know of a couple of things regarding the conditions within the deep woods.

While it’s not *hot* temp wise like last year, due to the rain/moisture, it’s extremely humid in the woods right now. Because of this, the bugs (mainly Nats and Mosquitoes) are absolutely horrible.

Those attending the week long Summer Camp will want to prepare for the humidity (ensure you carry your water bottle everywhere), and bring some long pants (breathable), as Blue Jeans will make you sweat more, to protect you from the bugs, or bring some good bug spray along with you.

Ensure you bring some moisture proof footwear, or a 2nd pair of footwear as there could be mud/puddles up there.

Enjoy the Camp out..

Spring Expo 2013

Scoutmaster Jeff reports many fun things to do at Spring Expo at Trollhaugen in May. There will be Zipline, Night hike or Scavenger Hunt, Patrol based obstacle course, Are You Tougher than a Tenderfoot timed activity, Skits, Camp Fire and Awards, Patches for attending, OA Trading Blanket (bring stuff to trade) and a fun Social Atmosphere with Scouts from other Troops.

This Friday, April 26th, is the last day to sign up if you want to attend this event.  You will need to email Scoutmaster Jeff if you are already not signed up in the activities book. Only Scouts will be able to do the Zipline and Activities and the Scouters will be helping to run things and supervise the Scouts.

Cost is $37.50 to attend Spring Expo 2013.

You will need to fill out the following two forms, BSA Waiver and the Trollhaugen Zipline Adventures Release Form and return these to Scoutmaster Jeff at his home or make sure you bring them with you to the parking lot when the Troop leaves for Trollhaugen or you will not be able to ride the Ziplines.

More information on Spring Expo 2013 is here.

Congratulations to 5 Scouts for becoming CIT’s at Tesomas Scout Camp.

Congratulations from the entire Troop to Jesse, Josh, Aaron, Mike and Austin for obtaining CIT (Counselor in Training) Staff Positions at Crystal Lake Scout Reservation for Summer of 2013. Way to go Gentlemen!

Family Feast followup

Family Feast weekend was fantastic.  Huge turnout by Families, Friends, Scouts and Scouters.  Much fun was had by all.  Troop Elections were held and the new Scout Leaders have been chosen by their peers for the year 2013.   Thank you all for coming out to Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp.
